Prof. Hans-Joachim Pietrula
Born in Duigsbourg, Germany

Prof. Hans Pietrula, a German national, was born in Duigsbourg in 1938. Passionate about art from an early age, he won his first prize for drawing at the tender age of 15. Marked first by Naturalism, today his techniques are more diverse. Drawing people, animals, flowers and land-scapes, his rich and highly coloured palette verges on the minimal. His themes evoke the microcosm, the world of the past and the future, the unseen.

He soon achieved a new and unmistakable style. He paints people and animals, plants and scenery. The flow techniques of his water colours enchant. He completely accomplishes to advance from the format and to demonstrate his impressions of magnificent color compositions. In 1986 began a new phase in his artistic evolution when he introduced for the first time some designs in a glass art workshop. There he created his leaded cabinet glass paintings from valuable glasses with magnificent picture motives. He designed and realized glass windows .H.-J. PIETRULA had framed the cut valuable Opal and Opak glasses in Silicon, which displayed the transparency and the brightness leading to the monumental formed areas of lightness that resulted in a one-time experience for the spectator. This encounter has been celebrated as a never before sensation of the glass art.
