Hoda Baalbaki Born in Beirut, Lebanon   Hoda was born in Beirut, Lebanon and graduated in 1995 from the Lebanese University in Beirut - Institute of Fine Art. Hoda is a member of the Lebanese Association of painters and sculptors. Hoda’s world is an independent world, made of colors, human shapes and things; elements of reality transformed into phantasmagorical imagery where she has tried to project her vision of an ideal world. This vision necessitated a degree of abstraction, which became in her hands truly radical. She developed a primitive style that included forms borrowed from children’s drawings. Avoiding the precise reproduction of details, every classical form has been reduced to schematic and primitive adaptations. Facial features have been transformed and contours and shapes were traced with sharp directness. Elementary shapes became symbolic and metaphorical references to peace, beauty and love rendered in strong, brilliant colors. Inspired by memories, Hoda’s lines trace moods and emotions. Her works portray the simplest form of human interaction with society and emphasize the emotional effect of this relationship.
