The Courtyard Gallery & Café were pleased to showcase Lebanese artist Hoda Baalbaki who's world is an independent world, made of colors, human shapes and things; elements of reality transformed into phantasmagorical imagery where she has tried to project her vision of an ideal world. To Hoda, it is a sort of reaction to the aggressiveness and violence of this world; a reaction that carries a message of peace, love and beauty. In her paintings, details become symbolically charged to express the longing for an exotic paradisiacal life; a half real - half imagined reality that reflects a unique world of harmony.
Inspired by memories, Hoda's lines trace moods and emotions. Her works portray the simplest form of human interaction with society and emphasize the emotional effect of this relationship. In the end it is her projection of a concrete utopia, a free world without repression where peace will prevail.
